Election '08

I'm going to start weighing in on the election here and there just because I don't really have anyone with whom to discuss politics so your comments are very welcome.

Here's what I'm thinking. The GOP only has two viable candidates at this point: Romney and McCain. The Dems only have two viable candidates: Hillary and Obama. As for everyone else, well here's how I break everyone down:

GOP
Huckabee - No one in this country can take the religious right at face value anymore (at least, that's what I think). This is why Huckabee won't get past Super Tuesday. The last thing this country needs is an even more religious nutjob in office. Say what you will about the man, convictions or not, his campaign has run out of gas.
Giuliani - He's a one-pump chump. All he's got is "I used to be mayor of New York." Seriously. He sounds like a fucking broken record. That's all he can say. Why? Because that's all the experience he has. He was hoping that 9/11 was going to lead him to victory. Turns out it's his swan song. Sorry, Rudy. Go put on a dress and some heels. You'll feel better in no time.
Paul - ... Wow. This guy is a piece of work. I think he has some good ideas, but he's way too extreme to be taken seriously. I mean, it would be nice to live in a world where people like him can be taken seriously enough to be viable, but in this day and age, people who know anything about politics are too realistic. There's no idealism left in this country.

Now, the two prime candidates, Romney and McCain.

Romney - He stands a chance. He's just center enough to appeal to a lot more than just your hard core right wingers but he's just not taking politics serious enough. He's too closed minded when it comes to the economy. Why is that? He's old and new money. He doesn't know what it's like to be a working man. He grew up wealthy and he stayed wealthy all his life. Sounds to me like he's just another elitist douchebag.
McCain - The only Republican in a long time to have earned my respect. I did lose faith in him when he started to kiss The Idiot-in-Chief's ass especially after all the mudslinging The Chimp did. And the sad part is, a lot of it wasn't mud. When McCain first ran, I really liked a lot of his ideas. I voted for him during California's one and only Open Primary in 2000. Fortunately, the primary was held in February, 4 months before the United States Supreme Court declared the Open Primary in California unconstitutional. Not that it mattered much. Gore won California for the Dems and The Idiot won it for the GOP. He still has a lot of good ideas. He's a lot more open minded than the other Republican candidates on the ballot. Good luck, you old bastard.

Democrats
Kucinich - Too left wing. Can't be taken seriously. When are people going to understand that if you want a chance to win, you have to at least look like you have some moderate tendencies. Earth to Kucinich---Earth to Kucinich. Do you copy? Do yourself a favor and drop out. Over. Seriously, dude. It's over.
Edwards - This guy is too pretty. You can't trust pretty people. I haven't really heard any solid stance on anything with him. He's kind of flying under the radar which is really stupid considering how important it is to be seen right now. Either that, or Hillary's ugly mug is just taking up too much screen time. Funny though, since he's still getting more votes than Kucinich. Hey Johnny, come out, come out wherever you are!

Now, the big guns in the Democratic race for the nod:

Clinton - Hrm... Don't get me wrong. I would love to see this country finally take its first step into a new era of politics by having it's first female president, but I really don't think she's it. I agree with a lot that she has to say. I do. I mean, I'm a registered Democrat so obviously, I'd have to agree with SOME things. But I just don't think she's ready for the big chair. There's one huge positive to her being President, though. Bill would be there pretty much helping her the whole way. It would be nice to see Bubba in action again. He was a great president, despite getting head in the Oval Office. I dunno. Hillary has a big mouth. Maybe if she'd used it to give Bill head when he wanted it, he would have never gotten impeached and the Democratic Party wouldn't have lost as much credibility as it did in 2000. Yes, I am blaming Hillary for these last 8 years of The Hillbilly Tyrant. Only because of how awesome it sounds.
Obama - Good looking, well-spoken, intelligent, real-world views. This guy sounds like a great candidate. I can't seem to understand why there's such controversy behind him. Hm. Maybe it's his tan. I dunno. Or maybe because his middle name is the same as the last name of the man who was our sworn enemy for the last 15 years. I like Obama a lot. His stances on the economy, immigration, abortion, his foreign policy are a lot more aligned to what I believe. He may not have a lot of experience, but I think he has what it takes to put this country back on track. To bring our boys and girls home when its feasible. To fix this struggling economy. Obama is the only person running that has struck a good vibe with me since the beginning of this race. They're claiming he's the next Kennedy. I hope they're right... well, except for the head-go-boom part.

These are all opinions from someone who doesn't really speak with anyone else about politics so a lot of these views might appear to be uneducated. Please bring your opinions to the table. I love political discussion. Just don't be a douchebag and get all pissy because someone disagreed with you.
